Get Ready for MAP Testing This September
This month, students will be participating in the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment. MAP tests are a valuable tool used by our school to measure your child’s academic growth and identify what they are ready to learn next. Unlike traditional tests, MAP is a computer-adaptive assessment, which means it adjusts the difficulty of questions based on your child's answers. This provides teachers with a personalized snapshot of each student’s strengths and areas where they might need more support.
How to Help Your Child Succeed
Since MAP testing is designed to measure what your child already knows and not specific content they've studied, the best preparation is to ensure they are well-rested and ready to focus. Here's how you can help:
- Ensure a good night’s sleep. A well-rested mind is essential for concentration and performance.
- Provide a healthy breakfast. A nutritious meal will give your child the energy they need to think clearly.
- Encourage a positive attitude. Remind your child that this test is a way to help their teachers support their learning. It's about growth, not just a score.
- Talk to them about it. Ask them how they're feeling and address any worries they might have.
Your child's teacher will be providing specific dates and any additional information regarding the testing schedule. We appreciate your partnership in setting our students up for success!
